Bharulata Kamble, who recently completed a solo car journey across 32 countries and the Arctic circle, invited Bob to join her at an event in Parliament in aid of the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign, which translates as 'Save Girls, Educate Girls', to spread the message of female empowerment and education.
The campaign was initiated by the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in an effort to end the gender-selective abortion of female foetuses. The issue of female foeticide remains an issue in many states in India and the country has 35 million fewer females than male population as a result. India is also home to one-third of the 10 million child brides in the world and is has 3.8 million girls still out of school.
