In January, Bob accompanied Andrew Lansley to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore to give a commitment that an incoming Conservative Government would fund the much needed rebuilding of the hospital. The Labour Government was shamed into finally approving the scheme after 10 years of prevarication.
During the general election Bob re-affirmed his commitment to ensure the rebuilding of the hospital. Following the general election, the Conservative-led coalition reviewed each spending commitment entered into by the Labour Government. Bob worked tirelessly to ensure that RNOH received the funding required.
The good news is that the Conservative-led coalition government has now approved the funding for the rebuilding project. Now the work should be starting in 2012.
