Krishna Avanti School in Edgware is a credit to the education system of the United Kingdom. It was developed with the approval of Conservative-run Harrow Council against opposition from other political parties. Although the development of the school was not universally accepted by all the people living locally, the end result has been excellent facilities and excellent teaching for children attending. Hopefully, the school will shortly expand to allow even more children to gain from the ethos of the school.
Bob commented, “I have always supported the right of parents to choose a faith-based school for their children and so I was delighted when the first State-sponsored Hindu Primary School opened in my constituency. I was pleased to be present at the ground-breaking ceremony and also at the Summer Fete earlier this year. Ofsted has also given the school an excellent review.”
“On Friday 3rd December, I visited the school and saw at first hand the excellent work undertaken to build a state of the art school incorporating the Hindu ethos. The development combines eco-friendly buildings with sedum roofs and interactive white boards and computer access. Apart from the modern gym, there is a purpose built marble temple and large outdoor courtyard.”
“The school has created facilities for all sports and an opportunity for the wider community to use adjoining sports facilities. The landscaping provides a pond, wildlife gardens and an outdoor amphitheatre. The purpose built kitchen provides fresh, hot, healthy meals for the children and I was pleased to taste the excellent products!”
“Background music plays constantly in the corridors. This is soothing and encourages good behaviour.”
“The teaching staff come from a wide range of backgrounds. They communicate all that is best in a wide-ranging curriculum. The children gain knowledge of all the world religions and understand all of the various festivals that are held. The children are smartly dressed in their school uniforms and use the opportunity to learn to their best advantage.”
“The school is a worthy addition to all the other excellent schools in Harrow.”
“I look forward to:-
- Krishna Avanti increasing in size shortly to allow even more parents who want their children to have the same opportunity to learn at Krishna Avanti School.
- Helping achieve the development of the first State-sponsored Hindu Secondary School in the country.
- Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education, coming to visit the school and conducting the official opening.”
