APPG Primary Care and Public Health Report Launch

A Chance to Shine

As a long time cricket fan, Bob was only too pleased to held spread the word about Chance to Shine, a national charity which aims to bring the sport to more young people, by taking part in a round of 'Street Cricket' with some of his Parliamentary colleagues. Raising Awareness of Brain Tumour Research

Bob attended an event held by Brain Tumour Research bringing together patients, charities, scientists, clinicians and supporters together to raise awareness of the disease and boost funding for research. Stanmore Synagogue has one of the largest United Synagogue congregations in Europe. They held an Evening of Friendship in an effort to forge closer relationships and mutual understanding with the wider community locally. Bob was pleased to meet the Speaker of the Knesset, the Hon. Yuli (Yoel) Edelstein, at a briefing session held by the Inter-Parliamentary Union during his official visit to the United Kingdom. Message In a Barrel

Bob added his voice to a campaign by the British Beer & Pub Association, the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) by sending a ‘Message in a Barrel’ calling on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to cut beer duty in the Budget on 16th March. Beer tax in the UK remains far higher than that neighbouring European countries. In Germany, for example, the rate of tax on beer is some thirteen times lower than here in the UK.

Visit My Mosque day at the Hujjat Centre

Bob visited the Husaini Islamic Centre on a Visit My Mosque open day that welcomed thousands of local residents. The National event, which is organised by the Muslim Council of Britain, is in its second year in running and has received a tremendous response from local residents. It is an opportunity for people of all faiths to learn about Islam and build bridges between different religious faiths.
