Every summer, Bob holds a "summer school" of work experience for bright local young people with an interest in politics. This year was our largest group yet, with attendees learning about the typical work of an MP on the campaign trail, as well as visiting Parliament, 10 Downing Street, and Conservative Campaign Headquarters, across two weeks.

The National Citizen Service Scheme

Around 8,000 15 to 17 year olds across North London have been taking part in the National Citizen Service programme and Bob was pleased to meet with local youngsters at Stanmore College to discuss their work. The scheme allows participants to develop their confidence, communication and teamwork; all skills which will prove useful in later life. APPG on Smoking and Health

As an active campaigner against smoking, Bob was pleased to again be elected Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Smoking and Health at an AGM held jointly with the APPG on Baby Loss. Together, the groups also launched the Smoking in Pregnancy Challenge Group’s new report on training in relation to the maternity workforce.

APPG on British Jews

The All Party Parliamentary Group on British Jews was reconstituted for the new Parliament and Bob was elected Secretary by his colleagues. The purpose of the group, which is Chaired by Conservative MP Oliver Dowden, is promote understanding of the needs of UK 's Jewish community and to celebrate the culture and the achievements of the community.

Kingsley High School is a special needs school for young people aged from 11-19 and Bob was pleased to make a visit to hear about their 'Send my friend to school' campaign. The aim of the campaign was to promote the value of quality education for all children around the world and Bob enjoyed seeing the jigsaw piece messages created by students taking part.

Guide Dogs UK Campaign on Pavement Parking

Guide Dogs UK held an event for their campaign to keep parked cars and other obstacles off our pavements and Bob attended to show his support. He heard from guide dog owners on how parked cars and street clutter blocking the pavement force them to walk in the road and into the path of traffic they cannot see. According to a Guide Dogs survey, 97% of blind and partially sighted people have encountered obstacles on the pavement, and 9 out of 10 have had problems with pavement parked cars. Guide Do...

Meeting with SafeSpace Pendle

Bob was pleased to meet with representatives of SafeSpace, a homelessness charity from Pendle, alongside Andrew Stephenson MP, to discuss his Homelessness Reduction Act.SafeSpace is a supported accommodation project for 16–25 year olds who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, providing 15 fully furnished flats and 4 emergency en-suite rooms while a support team helps youngsters with independent living skills.

NCRI 'Free Iran' Rally 2017

Bob once again attended the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) annual Free Iran rally alongside thousands of Iranian ex-pats and dignitaries from around the world. The aim of the rally is to call for a democratically elected Government in Iran and to draw more attention to the human rights abuses of the current regime. Maryam Rajavi is the President-elect of the NCRI and leader of the movement to press for democracy in the region.
