Bob was pleased to welcome many representatives of the Hindu community in Harrow to the annual celebration of Diwali at the House of Commons. Bob spoke form the stage to welcome visitors from all over the country as the magic of Diwali helped transform the Members Dining Room in the House of Commons into a Hindu Mandir.

Kodak lunch

Bob attended the Kodak community lunch with various politicians and business people from across the Harrow area. This was an opportunity to meet both community leaders and business people to discuss new development opportunities. The redevelopment of the Kodak site dominated discussions and the public consultation has now started.

Navratri

Bob attended a series of Navratri functions, visiting 13 halls to join in the celebrations of the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Bob has been attending Navratri functions for 25 years so is enjoys watching Gerba and joining in Dandia Ras. Bob regularly joins Hindus in performing Arti the traditional homage to the Gods.

Health petition

Bob joined forces with the Harrow Times to encourage the Government to provide additional assistance to improve conditions at Northwick Park Hospital. Bob was present when the petition collected was submitted to the Department of Health. Bob supports the Conservative-led coalition Government’s decision to ring fence the expenditure on the National Health Service and exempt the NHS from the necessary savings required in the public sector. Stanburn School

Residents had complained to Bob and Belmont’s Conservative Councillors about the noise and nuisance coming from the Stanburn School Playing Fields. Bob visited the School to meet the Headteacher, the Chairman of Governors and parent governors and also to see the schoolchildren playing on the playing fields. Bob then suggested having a meeting between the School, governors and residents. Bob facilitated the meeting to give both sides the opportunity to have their say and agree on a way forward ...
