In questions to the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Bob informed the House of his recent rip to Jordan and the West Bank where he met with the Palestinian Authority’s Prime Minister, Mr Fayyad and called upon him to facilitate the release of Gilad Shalit. Although Bob cannot take credit for his release, Bob expressed his delight that action was taken the following day. During his trip, it became clear to Bob that the level of settlement activity on the West Bank is speeding up, and that is obviously of great importance. Bob asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs to make sure that the Palestinians return to negotiations urgently, rather than using their time lobbying members of the Security Council and the United Nations to secure a vote, so that we can get a viable two-state solution.
