Your Member of Parliament for Harrow East

Andrew Percy MP

Equitable Life

The Government can be rightly proud that they have done more in 13 months than the Labour Party did to compensate victims of the Equitable Life scandal in 13 years. However, in Business Questions Bob drew attention, to the remaining group of people —the pre-September 1992 annuitants—who are trapped and vulnerable, as their cases are not even being assessed. Bob called upon the Leader of the House to lean on the Treasury and encourage it to come forward with a statement on the progress of pay...

Adult Social Care

The extra money being given to adult social care should be good news, but in Harrow, the council, which is Labour-run, has applied the £2.1 million additional funding to redundancies in general areas, rather than passing it on to the weak and the vulnerable. Bob asked the Prime Minister to join him in condemning this upsurge in gang-related violence and confirm that those who carry knives will face a custodial sentence if appr...

The Middle East

In Foreign and Commonwealth Questions, Bob raised concerns that a further flotilla from Turkey was proposing to attempt to breach the blockade of Gaza. This was at a time of increased terrorist attacks by Hamas and warned the Secretary of State that this would act as a terrible provocation to the state of Israel. Bob welcomed the Foreign Secretary's words on the issue and urged him to approach the organisers of the flotilla directly to make them stop.
